Easter

Since Jared works Saturdays, we dyed our Easter eggs Thursday after he got home from work. Laken enjoyed it, although all he really did was put an egg in each color, wait a while, then take them out with his hands. It's hard for a 3 year old to get creative, but he did use crayon on one egg and put stickers on another after it dried. He wanted to put the eggs in each color but we only let him do it a few times. When all the eggs were done, Laken's hands were as green as the Hulk's. Carter on the other hand decided to start out his first egg-coloring adventure by eating the left-over purple tablet and ended up dyeing his mouth purple. Unfortunately I didn't even think about getting a picture until after I had his mouth cleaned up. And after a while you couldn't really tell unless you saw his tongue. But we were able to teach him that we were dyeing eggs and not our bodies and got him to put one of the eggs in the yellow dye (after he put it in his mouth, or course).

I think they turned out pretty good considering how young the boys are.

After dyeing the Easter eggs, we had such a nice day that we decided to enjoy the weather and celebrate spring with a picnic outside. Laken enjoyed it so much that he even ate his chicken! Carter on the other hand was too busy crawling around to sit still and eat much of anything (except dirt and whatever else he could find).

On Easter morning our boys were in such a good mood that we were able to put them into their Easter outfits without too much of a fuss. As soon as we got home from church, we put their ties back on and went outside for a quick picture session before they could get too dirty.

Aren't they just the cutest in their little purple/pink shirts and ties? It took us a few stores to find some Easter-colored shirts and although they are both in shirts that are too big for them, I think we scored at Burlington ($9 for Laken's shirt and tie, and $4 for Carter's. Definitely beats the other stores 4-piece outfits for $25).

After naps and lunch the Easter bunny visited. Here are the boys checking out their goods and sporting their new Easter-bunny ears.

While the boys were inside, the Easter bunny snuck outside and hid the eggs. Laken caught on pretty quickly and began filling up his basket while Carter had help from daddy. It only took Laken a couple times of opening up the plastic eggs and dropping all the candy to realize he just needed to put them in his basket and open them later. Also Laken was pretty generous with Carter (at least in the beginning) and found some eggs and gave them to Carter. But towards the end (and after realizing there was candy in the plastic ones) he decided they were better off in his own basket.
