Carter's burns

Last Thursday it was really nice outside so we decided we'd use the grill to make dinner. Leave it to Carter to change our plans. Soon after Jared lit the grill, he went to help Laken do something in the yard and didn't realize Carter was outside too. Next thing you know, we hear a scream followed by lots of hard crying. We knew immediately what happened. Carter touched the grill. We couldn't tell right away where he was burned so we just tried putting his hands under cold water. A few minutes I saw his left forearm was pink also so we ran cold water over his entire arm. Let me tell you it's no easy task to hold onto a screaming/crying toddler while holding his arm under cold water. Eventually I just got a wet rag and wrapped it around him and put a sock over his arm to hold the rag on. We gave him some advil to help with the pain. I ended up taking the poor kid to the quick care because I wasn't too sure how bad the burns were. He cried himself to sleep in the car and was not very happy when he woke up. All they did at quick care was put an antibiotic on the burns, wrapped him up and told me to have him see a pediatrician in the morning. When we got home, he was in better spirits (thanks to drugs). The next day I got an appointment for him to see his doctor. This is what is left arm looked like there:

The palm was blistered and his forearm was very pink but didn't look blistered. But the doctor said his burns were 2nd degree. She gave us a prescription for burn cream and told us to put new wrappings on his arms once a day with the cream. Here is Carter with his arms wrapped up like a boxer with socks on his hands about 4 days after burning himself:

As you can see he's pretty interested in his arms when we take off his wrappings. 

Anyways, those are all the pictures we have so far. I'm hoping to get some today since it's been a week since his burns. He's been really good about the entire thing. He usually leaves the socks and wrappings alone but when he does notice some of the wrapping coming out, he pulls on it until we cut it off or fix it. He has been interested in his arms when we take off the wrappings to change them but we don't let him touch them too much since they're still pretty raw. The skin has been coming off his forearm but it still looks pretty bad. We're getting better at wrapping him up but it still always takes a while because he doesn't like to sit still. But we'll be pros by the time we can stop. He goes to the doctor again tomorrow for a follow-up and hopefully she'll say things are looking pretty good as far as burns go.
