Easter

We made our Easter celebrations last the weekend. Saturday morning there was a community egg hunt near the schools. So we took the kids down to check it out. We were some of the first people there. Eggs covered the grass. They had tape sectioning off areas for different ages. So preschool and under went in one spot. It was a very windy day so the kids weren't too fond of that but we hung out and waited patiently for the horn to go off and get some eggs. Unfortunately (fortunately?) we don't have very pushy kids. So when the horn went off, the mass of parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles took their little ones out to get eggs and formed a wall. Jared tried keeping up with them but unfortunately with one kid in arms and one kid being slow, they ended up behind the wall of people and ended up with 4 eggs total. It was pretty sad and Laken was a little upset about it (and so were we to be honest). But we shrugged it off and decided we have enough eggs and candy at home for the easter bunny to hide so it would be all right.

Later that day, we got the eggs out and dyed them. The boys each had 9 eggs and were so dye-happy that in a matter of seconds, each dye cup had an egg in it. Jared and I tried showing them different ways to dye the eggs (using a wax crayon, half one color/half another color, etc). But they're little boys and most of the eggs turned out blue or green. But they had fun (for the 10 minutes it lasted) and that's all that matters.

After the eggs we decided to go bowling. The boys did really well and had fun. They did a good job taking turns and cheering each other on. 

Laken bowling. He did a good job getting the ball down the lane by himself each time. It usually went really slowly but it always made it.

Carter bowling. I love how the ball is half his size but he wanted to carry it on his own.  Jared or I had to help give the ball a push every time he dropped it. 

And Kaliya enjoyed crawling around, sitting under the chairs, and climbing onto the bowling platform.
And check out those scores! Jared obliterated us with his 185! And I just barely beat Laken by 7 points and Carter by 17!  Not too bad for the boys first time bowling. 

Then Easter morning, Laken was not feeling well at all and didn't want to look for any eggs. He found one and that was all. He sat on the couch and pointed at eggs if he saw them and let Carter get them. Carter did such a good job finding the eggs. He found them left and right. I felt bad that Laken wasn't feeling too well but I guess the bright side is that the boys didn't fight over the eggs. After all the eggs were found, we debated whether or not we would go to church. But Laken started acting a little better so we figured we would try to go and if we had to leave it early, then we would leave.

Can you tell Laken is sick?

We stayed for all of church. Laken just laid on my lap for most of it and fell asleep during the 3rd hour. But when we got home and got him some medicine, he wanted to be up doing things. He said he wanted to do an egg hunt so Jared ran outside and hid some more eggs. Again Carter found quite a few by himself and Laken did a pretty good job too.

These boys are just like their daddy - can't keep their eyes open when it's sunny outside.

In the evening we were invited to the branch president's house for another Easter egg hunt. Originally we had planned on going but decided against it with Laken not feeling well. He would use up what little energy he had quickly so we didn't think it would be much fun for him and we didn't want others getting what he had. So we stayed home and lounged around for the rest of the day, eating candy.
