August part 4

When we got home from vacation, a stomach bug was shared in the family. Of course I had mine the first day Jared went back to work. I tried to tough it out, but it's hard to throw up with little kids around. It's also hard to do things for them/with them when you have no energy. So I finally told Jared he needed to come home. When he got home after noon he had diapers to change, children to feed, children to dress, etc. So after all that was taken care of, he took the kids on some errands to let me take a nap. When I woke up, he had started a tire swing. It wasn't until the weekend that it was finished. But here it is:

Carter has never been one to swing but he decided the tire swing was ok. He liked to spin on it more than swing, but it's a start.

And while we were gone, a little skunk decided to make it's home under our front porch. It had been spotted a few times in our front yard and seen going under the porch. So we've been trying to find ways to get rid of it.

Kaliya's first spoon experience was with yogurt. I'm still not exactly sure how she got it all over her face.
And here she is playing in some of the kid's dress up clothes. Isn't she stylin'? 

Laken's love of blocks continues. Lately he makes huge trains and he spends a lot of time making them just right.

Carter is slowly learning that swings can be fun - as long as he isn't pushed too high.
And here he is hiding from the thunder he hears outside.

Our carrots actually did well. At first we thought we weren't going to get much from them, but when we weren't looking, they came up like weeds. They have been one of the most successful vegetables we've grown and that we've actually eaten. 

We have some deer that live in the area. At least once a week, we spot one outside. Usually they are stay near the fields and the garden but occasionally one will cross the street and come past our house.  The boys always love seeing the deer. In this case, the boys had fun watching him come over to our yard. When they lost sight of him, I took them to the side door to peek out to spot it and they got a real good close up of it. It was just on the other side of the garage. Laken turned around and said 'Wow! That was really close!'
