Easter Fun

A few days before Easter we colored our eggs. We tried to come up with easy ways for the kids to make fun eggs rather than just stick them in one color and call them done. But they mainly put their egg into one color and then into another color and sometimes into a third color to see what color the egg turned out. Oh well, more creativity will come as they get older.

The Saturday before Easter the town puts on an egg hunt for kids. We weren't sure about going because last year we went and were disappointed by how greedy parents were. Many kids went home with baskets or bags full of eggs while some kids (including ours) went home with 2. But we decided to give it another shot. This year they held it at the high school football field so there was plenty of room and plenty of eggs. We waited on the far side of the field for it to start. When they blew the horn, the boys had a hard time getting past the tape but once Laken was on the other side, he started grabbing eggs. Carter, on the other hand, started crying. He wasn't too sure about everything and it took him a few minutes to start walking around to pick up eggs. Kaliya got the hang of it pretty quickly once I showed her what to do. So this year was much better and the kids got plenty of eggs and treats.

On Easter morning, we brought the kids into our room one by one as they woke up so they couldn't cheat on finding eggs. When they were all up and had gone potty, we let the into the living room to get their Easter baskets. The Easter Bunny brought the boys baseball mitts and a ball and brought Kaliya some beach toys. They also each got a pinwheel (which Laken had asked for and loved). After checking out the few candies in their baskets, we told them to find the eggs hidden around the front room. There were girl colors for Kaliya and boyish colors for the boys. They did a pretty good job finding the eggs. 

In the afternoon, a family from our church had a big Easter egg hunt and picnic at one of the parks near the lake and invited a bunch of families. So we headed over to that. The kids had lots of fun. They ended up having their own section of the playground to pick up eggs so they got tons. And it was nice being with friends for lunch.
