Bumpy ride

Hang on, this is going to be a bumpy ride. 

^ That is certainly the story of our life ^ 

Ok, maybe not of our LIFE, but certainly with JOBS.

It has been a roller-coaster ride of jobs with Jared. 

The poor guy got his Masters and hasn't been able to keep a steady job (through no fault of his own). 

First, while getting his Masters, he had to do an internship. He did one at a place called "Raise the Bottom," a methadone clinic for people addicted to pain killers. At the end of the internship, they wanted to hire him but couldn't because he hadn't received his Masters yet. But they wanted him as soon as he was done with school and took his licensure exam. They wanted him to work at their clinic in Boise and then help open a clinic in Coeur d' Alene and be their program manager there. At least thats what they said.

After Jared finished school and passed his licensure exam, he called up "Raise the Bottom" but they didn't need any help. Instead they knew of another place (a residential clinic) that needed counselors really bad: "Bow Creek." So, Jared figured he'd apply for that job, work there for a bit, then be able to go back to "Raise the Bottom" and help them open their new clinic. Once again, that was the plan that didn't happen. "Raise the Bottom" kept telling Jared they'd open in "3-4 more months" but nothing ever came of it. So, Jared kept work at "Bow Creek." Until....

The owner of "Bow Creek" stopped taking in new clients because they had an audit coming and she wanted to make sure their records and everything were up to par. So, since there were no clients, they had no need for the number of counselors they had. And because Jared was the newest and youngest, he got the boot. They claimed it would only be a "temporary lay-off" but we couldn't just sit around and wait for a few weeks until they had their audit. So....

Jared started looking around for jobs and taking his resume around. He heard of a job at "Community Services Counseling" where they work with the drug-court. He had a contact there already and figured it would be easy to get that job. At first they told him they had already hired someone else and wouldn't need him. But after talking to the right people, he was called back and asked to work part time between their clinic in Boise and their clinic in Nampa. Well, their clinic in Nampa just happened to be needing someone full time because one of their current employees would be taking a health leave. So, Jared began working there.

But unfortunately that's not the end of our story. Yesterday Jared had heard rumors that the lady he took over for, was coming back soon and when she did, they wouldn't need Jared anymore. He talked to his supervisor about it and sure enough, she told him it would be in his best interest to start looking for a new job. Frustrating? Yes! We thought this job would be it for a while but apparently they only seemed to hire him to cover the lady on health leave. She comes back in 2 weeks, and that will be Jared's last day there. 

So, once again, Jared is looking for a job. But this time, we're also looking out of state. We're hoping to find something around Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland area (I guess we could call that Northern-Central-Eastern-America?) Anyway, we'll see what comes of it. Someone told us it's harder to find jobs when you're not in that area and it would be best to pick an area, move there, and then look for a job. But we'll see. Jared will get his CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) soon and that will (hopefully) make it easier for him to get a job.
